PS3 Can Now Run Custom Firmware

For those of you that have been following the recent developments in the PS3 hacking scene this might interest you. A method for loading custom firmware onto the Playstation 3 has been discovered! What this means is that running homebrew software on the PS3 could become a lot easier in the near future. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be able to play backup games, but I’m sure that someone will come up with a way to do so once they’ve played around with this latest exploit. That means that in order to play backup games off your PS3’s hard drive (or an external) it would be as simple as loading a custom firmware to a thumb drive and updating the console from it.

I’m sure I’ll be keeping up with this as it develops, but for now you can check out KaKaRoTo’s Blog for more information.
