It’s Official: Call of Duty: Black Ops Coming Nov. 2010

It appears as though most of the rumors we mentioned a few weeks ago were pretty spot on. The latest game in the Call of Duty series will be titled “Call of Duty: Black Ops” and is being developed by Treyarch for a November 2010 release. Along with those details coming to light, a recent leak of a product description has given us more detail on what the actual game will entail… and again, the rumors were pretty spot on.

Call of Duty returns this November, but this is a Call of Duty like no other, this is Black Ops.

Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done! From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!

So there you have it, it’s not a world war II game and it will take us all over the world through (what I’m assuming are) different periods in time as we follow the Black Ops.

Now as much as am a fan of the Infinity Ward developed CoD games, I’ll probably pick this one up for at least the single player, but I’ll still need to see some gameplay footage to make my decision on whether I buy it on launch day or I wait. I was impressed with the jump in quality between Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War, so maybe Treyarch will blow everyone out of the water with this latest incarnation. And I truly hope so because if the other rumors come true, Infinity Ward may be no more, leaving Treyarch as the veteran development studio in the Call of Duty universe.

I believe Game Trailers TV is supposed to have an exclusive trailer for this game later today, so if that happens I’ll make sure to post it up.
