I know, I know, the odds are against Call of Duty: World at War. For one we’re going back in time away from the modern combat we’ve all come to love and secondly Treyarch is developing this one and not Infinity Ward. If you remember Call of Duty 2, that amazing launch title for the Xbox 360 and then compare that to Call of Duty 3, that mediocre follow-up, you’ll see that Treyarch doesn’t really have the best track record. Some people will say that CoD3 was rushed and that’s why it didn’t turn out has good as it could have been, but I’m not too sure. Call of Duty: World at War will use the CoD4 engine so hopefully that will keep it in line with the Inifinity Ward versions, but we’ll have to see. The videos I’ve seen so far make the game look pretty good, but CoD3 looked good in video form as well. And going back in time and getting rid of all the cool modern weapons we’ve grown to love in CoD4 might let down a lot of people. Either way I’ll be picking up the game the day it comes out for the single player if nothing else.
