call of duty black ops 2 poster trailer

We should get the official announcement for “Black Ops 2” today sometime (if it doesn’t leak it’ll be shown during the NBA Playoffs on TNT tonight), but for those of you that can’t wait, here’s your first look at the poster (which will probably be similar to the box art) for the game. A few things to note is that it appears that the game will take place in present day, or at least partially in present day. “Black Ops” stayed mostly in the past and I don’t think we ever made it past the 1960’s so this should be pretty cool. I’m curious to see, if they are using present day, how the keep it separate from “Modern Warfare” as that was the whole point of “Modern Warfare”, it takes place now.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think Treyarch is surpassing Infinity Ward with their entries into the Call of Duty franchise. CoD2 was one of my favorite games, while Treyarch put out CoD3, and was a total disaster and disappointment. Call of Duty 4 was incredible and Treyarch started to get a little better with World at War. Modern Warfare 2 set the bar pretty high, but then Treyarch hit their stride and blew it out of the water with Black Ops which caused MW3 to be a disappointment. Thankfully Black Ops 2 can’t be any worse than MW3 (although I still like the game, it has some issues though), and hopefully, since they are building off of Black Ops, it will be just as good, if not better, than it’s predecessor.

So keep an eye out here and we’ll post the reveal trailer as soon as it hits the internet. I’m sure it’ll leak out before it hits TV tonight during the NBA Playoffs, so we’ll get it up as soon as we find it.

Update: The game synopsis has leaked as well

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.
