We are leaving Chicago in about 48 hours! I finally started doing a little packing last night, basically just threw all of my clothes in a bag. 2 weeks is a long time to be gone. I got the GPS programmed with all of the addresses to the baseball stadiums and hall of fames, so that should keep us from getting too lost. The GPS doesn’t have Canada in it though, so we’ll have to resort to Google maps on my iPhone or the Blackberry GPS on nick’s phone to get us through Canada, shouldn’t be hard though.

If you weren’t aware, we had 1 extra ticket to both the game in Boston and the game in New York, due to Pat’s friend having to cancel after we bought the tickets. He is going to pay us for the tickets since he said he could go, but of course we were going to try to find someone to go… and we did! 2 of our friends that I grew up with moved out to Connecticut when we were Sophomores or Juniors in high school, so about 9-10 years ago. I think I may have ran into them a couple times while they were in town visiting since then, but it’s been a while. Anyways, one of them now lives just outside of Boston and wanted to go to the Boston game with us and is sister now lives in New York City with their older sister and wanted to go to the New York game with us. So this works out perfectly, we’ll get to see each other for the first time in a while, Pat’s friend won’t have to pay us back 100% (obviously Abby and Jon weren’t going to pay the ridiculously inflated prices that we had to pay) and we don’t have to try to sell 4 tickets and buy 3, since it’s nearly impossible to find 3 tickets for sale. Oh and we also found that since the trip was extended by a few days we may be able to catch a Cubs game in Pittsburgh, so we’ll see what happens with that.

So everything is working out. We haven’t booked any hotels which Pat is a little concerned about (I’m not), so we may look into booking our first hotel before we leave, or on the way up there, just so we know we have a place to stay that night. It also looks like we’ll probably spend that first night in downtown Detroit (not my choice) only because Pat made a good point, depending on how much we drink at the Tigers game, it might not be the best idea to…. well drive in general, but cross the border into Canada as well. So we figure as long as we stay in a decent area in downtown Detroit we should survive one night. I suggested we build memories that will last us the rest of our lives and just find an abandoned house in the outskirts of the city and sleep in there… plenty of them in the area. But nobody wanted to wake up with all of our stuff stolen and a homeless man trying to take your pants… might be a bit awkward. I’m sure there will be plenty of other memorable moments on the trip that don’t (or do) involve homeless people and pants stealing, we’ll just have to see.

So this may be my last update on the blog until we leave, so if you want to know what we’re doing in almost real time, I will be Twittering more frequently than blogging. Twitter is basically just mini-blogging, but I can attach pictures and stuff too. You can find the twitter feed on the right side of this page or you can make an account and follow me over at http://www.twitter.com/mak10 . There’s also a flickr banner on the right side here that will be updated with pictures I take with my phone, pictures I take with my cameras may not be uploaded during the trip, there probably won’t be time, but I will get them all online when we get back… and I’m sure there will be a ton!
