Have you ever been taking a leak while simultaneously tweeting the act, then accidentally dropped the phone in the toilet? Was your first reaction to plunge your hand into the urine filled bowl to retrieve the device that you can’t live without? That’s disgusting, but now that you’ve rescued your device and gotten over your fear of peeing on your hands, turn off the phone. If it already shut itself off due to being submerged in liquid, do not try to turn it back on. If you try and turn it on it is likely to short out and then you’re really screwed.
If you don’t have a replacement plan where you can get yourself a new phone for free, then the next step is to get a bowl of white rice and submerge the phone in the rice completely for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, try to turn your phone back on and see if it fires up. This trick works because rice absorbs moisture and will pull a lot of it out of your phone. I’ve done this to a lot of phones in the past so I know it works, just make sure you leave the phone in the rice for a good amount of time. 12 hours may be enough, but I’d still recommend leaving it in for 24.
Have you had good luck with this method, let us know in the comments.
