is the playstation phone real

Rumors have been flying for years that Sony was working on a phone version of their popular Playstation gaming console, but could it be possible that this is becoming a reality? Engadget has gotten there hands on actual photos of what appears to be a Sony Ericsson branded phone that produces a slide out gaming pad, similar to the mock-ups and “leaks” that we’ve seen in the past, the only difference is that these are actual photos!

According to Engadget the specs of the phone are as follows:

1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches.

It also appears to have a multi-touch trackpad that runs between the d-pad and the buttons instead of analog sticks. The design also contains the familiar shoulder buttons as well as a microSD slot (no Memory Stick support). It seems like a cool idea considering how prominent gaming has become in the mobile world, so maybe we’ll actually see this thing in the near future. What do you guys think, will you buy a Playstation Phone? I’ve had Ericsson phones in the past and wouldn’t be opposed to using another one in the future, but I really love my iPhone and don’t think I could give it up…
