How To Unlock Foursquare Badges Tom April 19, 2010 Technology Foursquare seems to be the hot new social networking tool right now and with that there have been a lot of discussions on how to actually obtain some of the badges that you can get. So to try and clear up some confusion I’ve scoured the internet and put together a list of how to get each of the badges… or at least how people think you get the badges. I’m not sure if all of these are correct as I have not gotten every single badge, so if you see something that isn’t right please let me know in the comments and I’ll be adding badges all the time, as foursquare continues to add badges. Treat yourself to another cupcake – that’s 5 birthday shoutouts from you!” Adventurer Check in to 10 different venues. You’ve checked into 10 different venues! Animal House* Check in 3 times to venues tagged with both ‘frat boys’ and ‘college’. Off the Wagon appreciates your business. COLLEGE! Babysitter 10 check ins to venues tagged ‘playground’. Forget those “Bender” and “Crunked” badges – you’ve conquered the playground circuit! (10 checkins!) Barista For checking in to 5 different Starbucks locations. Congrats – you’ve checked in at 5 different Starbucks! Be sure to pick up a double tall latte for your friend – I’m sure they’d do the same for you. Bender Check in 4 nights in a row. That’s 4+ nights in a row for you! BFF Check in 10 times with the same person. NOTE: This badge was never activated. The only one for me is you, and you for me ? 10 checkins togeeetthhherrrr! Boat Check in to a venue tagged ‘boat’. I have been told that one can also earn it by mentioning a boat in a shout. ? This ain’t Seaworld, this is as real as it gets / I’m on a boat, MF’er, don’t you ever forget! ? Bravo Newbie For your first check in at a Bravo rated location. Congratulations! You’ve taken your first step into the BRAVO world. (It’s not as scary as it sounds!) Crunked Check in 4 or more times in a single night. That’s 4+ stops in one night for you! Don’t Stop Believin’ Check in to 3 different venues tagged as “karaoke” in a month. Just a small town girl / Living in a lonely world / She took the midnight train going anywhere! That’s 3 karaoke field trips in a month! Treat yourself by slaying a lil’ Bon Jovi. Douchebag* Awarded for checking in at places tagged with “douchebag”. Unsure as to the number of check ins required. NOTE:The ‘douchebag’ tag is no longer allowed to be added to venues. Not sure how to get this badge anymore. Double pop that collar, son! Explorer Check in to 25 different venues. You’ve checked into 25 different venues! Fashion Victim* For checking in at Marc Jacobs. Not sure how many times or if it is city specific. Wow! You crossed the line! Your passion for fashion knows no boundaries! Thanks for stopping in and have some fun! – Love, Marc Fashionista* Checking in to Bravo rated clothing retailer? You’ve found the key to BRAVO’s Launch My Line insignia. Now, go find us some sales! Foodie For checking in to 5 different venues rated by Zagat. You eat the best from hot dogs to haute cuisine. Hopping around the world one airport at a time… congrats on your 5th airport checkin and safe travels! Jobs (old) Check in to 3 Apple Stores. 3 Apple Store checkins! Hold onto this badge tightly. Maybe someday you’ll be able to trade it in for an iHoverboard! Jobs (new) Same as above, but the icon has changed. Local Check in 3 times at the same place in one week. You’ve been at the same place 3x in one week! Newbie Awarded for your first check in. Congrats on your first check-in! Overshare Check in 10+ times in a 12 hour period. 10+ checkins in 12 hours! Next up: tweeting that you unlocked this Overshare badge? Photogenic Check in to 3 different venues tagged as having a photo booth. You found 3 places with a photobooth! Pizzaiolo Check in to 20 different Pizza Shops. This badge is reserved only for the true pizza connoisseur: slices from 20 different pizza places. Well done! Player Please Check in to a place that has three members of the opposite sex currently checked in. NOTE: This badge has been deactivated since the logic for the Swarm badge has overridden it. Look at you, checking-in with 3 members of the opposite sex! Player, please!” Road Warrior Check in using the Waze application. You’re making the world a mappier place one checkin at a time! School Night Check in after 3:00am on a school night. Checking-in after 3am on a school night? Well done! Socialite* Not sure how this one is earned. Possibly San Francisco specific. Keep this up and you’re going to end up on Valleywag with Julia Allison Super Mayor Achieve 10 simultaneous Mayorships. A special shoutout for holding down 10 mayorships at once! Super Star Check in to 50 different venues. You’ve checked into 50 different venues! Super User Check in 30 times in a single month. That’s 30 checkins in a month for you! Swarm Check in to a place where 50+ other foursquare users are currently checked in. And yes, if you are number 49, you get the badge when number 50 checks in. 50+ people are also checked-in here – it’s a foursquare flashmob! Top Chef* A Bravo badge. No idea how to earn it. You wear the term “foodie” as a badge of honor, and now have BRAVO’s Top Chef Badge to prove it. Valentine’s Day No idea how to earn it. Valentine’s Day: Ooh la la! This is your 2nd checkin at a great date spot for Valentine’s Day. How romantic! Next up: bring your date to see “Valentine’s Day”, in theaters February 12th! As with the Swarm badge, if you are number 249, when number 250 checks in, it will invoke your badge as well. Know what you call a 50 person swarm at SXSW? The Hilton Lobby.
