I got a little too excited that iMessages (dubbed just ‘Messages’) is coming to the Mac as part of OS X Mountain Lion… but now I’m really excited! You can download a beta of Messages for the Mac right now!! This is huge for me as I do a good amount of “iMessaging” and now I can use the keyboard on my computer instead of having to pick up my phone all the time. Thanks Apple! Note: Requires OS X Lion 10.7

For those curious, this is basically iChat with Messages built in. Here are the features (yes you can use gchat within it)

  • Send unlimited iMessages to any Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.*
  • Start an iMessage conversation on your Mac and continue it on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
  • Send photos, videos, attachments, contacts, locations, and more.
  • Launch a FaceTime video call and bring the conversation face-to-face.
  • Messages supports iMessage, AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk, and Jabber accounts.

Download Messages From Apple NOW!

Update: It appears as though Apple may be having difficulties with the download, so if you can’t download it from there, Grab it From Us! (It looks like the issue is fixed, but feel free to grab it from us if you want)
