Cooper Tires new “Take The Money & Ride” promotion will give you up to $80 in the form of a Visa Pre-paid gift card just for buying a set of four tires from participating dealerships in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. I don’t know about you, but free money just for buying a set of tires sounds like a good deal to me.

Winter is coming up soon, and depending on where you live this could mean slippery, wet conditions. New tires are a great way to help stay safe while on the road. If the tread on your tires gets too low, your tires will not grip the road properly and could lead to an accident. It’s always a good idea to make sure your tires are in good condition before the weather starts to get bad. Tire tread should be at least 2/32 of an inch deep and should be replaced if any lower. Thankfully, Cooper Tires have a built-in “tread wear indicator” making it easy to know when the tires need to be replaced. However, you can always test the tread by using a U.S. Penny. Place the penny, with Lincoln’s head facing down, in the tire tread. If the top of his head is covered by the tread, then you’re ok. It’s never safe to drive on a bald tire, so make sure to keep an eye on them.

Another way to prolong the life of your tires is to always be aware of the tire pressure. I recently had an experience where I had to replace a tire after I drove on it for too long while it was low. The wheel rim started to cut into the interior of the tire and could have caused a blowout had I not gotten it checked. Thankfully I did and replaced the tire, but had I just kept an eye on the tire pressure I wouldn’t have had to spend the money to get it replaced.

So if you’re in need of tires, head on over to the Take the Money & Ride website to find out more information as well as a participating dealer in your area.
