I have played most of the Tomb Raider games, and saw the movies, just because I was curious how they would do them. The first chapter, entitled “Survivor’s Guilt!”, we find our hero, Lara Croft, in a bit of a pickle. Lara is outgunned, out manned and on the run from a militia. The story comes to fruition when in danger of falling to her death, she sees her falling comrads in their deathly states. Though she saw her friends die, they seemed so real. All of this ends up to being a dream she consistently has whilst witnessing the demise of her team. We quickly move to Laura being summoned to a location. She receives a call from her buddy Jonah whom seems in dire need of her assistance on something. Upon arrival to her location, Lara smells something suspicious. When she gets to Jonahs’ location she soon realizes that something is wrong because everything in his trailer is in a plastic bag. This is when shit goes south and the story takes an interesting spin. It leaves us definitely with some questions. What the hell is with the circle? Also what and where did this mysterious wave come from?! Yeah I did not get into that part, I know. So I am, as always, intrigued by how this is going to pan out. The next episode is entitled “The Four Guardians”. The story is definitely an eye catcher. There is a a lot of narrative, which gives you a look inside the characters thoughts. The art is pretty fantastic as well. The attention to detail is a plus and the coloring is a heavy dose of fleshy tones and black infused colors, for lack of a better term. So check out the first one over at Dark Horse. Enjoy your reading!
