G.I. Joe: Renegades Season 1 Blu-ray Review

Yes! Mr. Belding back again with an awesome review of the action packed bluray from Hasbro and Shout! Factory, G.I. Joe Renegades Season 1! If you have been keeping up, I did a review sometime back on the first volume of this show, so I was pretty stoked when I got to see the entire season. This 3-disc Blu-ray collection includes 26 episodes with a run-time of +/-9.5 hours.

G.I. Joe follows our favorite Joe’s; Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Tunnel Rat, Ripcord and Snake Eyes as they battle the evil forces of COBRA Corp and their foe COBRA Commander. When a spy mission goes wrong, the Joe’s are forced to become fugitives and allude even their own countrymen in order to stay alive and expose the truth behind the plot that COBRA is conjuring up. Will the Joe’s be able to overcome COBRA and the Falcon military, or will they be out-maned and out-gunned, eliminating the truth behind COBRA corp.

The video comes at you in 1080p 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen format. The colors were pretty rich and pure when characters or other objects were up close. You can tell they creators were more focused on the objects in your face, because the environments and other such objects in the background usually had a “sketch” look. This did not bother me one bit. It actually was a nice touch, like a comic book. Other than that the picture was pretty nice. No real bad blurry objects during faster scenes, just a loss in some detail at times, but nothing terrible. 4/5

The audio comes at you in Dolby Digital 5.1 goodness. The sound was crisp. The weapon sounds as well as the rear channel sounds came out pretty solid. The dialogue is never overpowered by the background music or sound effects. I did notice a few times when the sound “fuzzed”, for lack of a better term. It did not happen a lot, but the few times it happened, it was pretty noticeable. other than that it was a pretty solid sound track. 4/5

Commentaries: Your typical commentary installment.

Well I loved it. From start to finish. I know you are probably saying, but Mr Belding you are an adult. So what. This is a fun, exciting and well written series. Its sad to say that they are not going to continue with this story line. Word is that Hasbro is going to reboot the series and make it more along the lines of the movies that have been coming out. But over all is was amazing. The Bio Vipers are some bad motha, shut your mouth. The other villians are pretty awesome as well, with their witty banter and ridiculous plots. Well if you are a fan of some G.I. JOE, I say give it a shot!

I would like to thank Shout! Factory for allowing me to review this! Amazing group over there Shout! Factory
