You knew it was only a matter of time before “The Walking Dead” became a video game, but if you expected to be able to play as Rick, Shane or Glenn then you may be disappointed. The game takes place in the same zombie-ridden world that the comic books and TV show do, but you play as another group of survivors as they try to escape Atlanta. To me that just sounds like a general zombie game with “The Walking Dead” slapped on the cover, but Kirkman states that the game will not be your typical zombie game like “Left 4 Dead”, but more of an emotional story focused on the characters… I just hope it’s not as slow moving as some of the episodes of the show. The game also utilizes the cell-shading animation technique, which I personally love, but I know that some people are going to be disappointed.

The full trailer will be released next week so be sure to check back for a full look at “The Walking Dead” video game.

Based on Robert Kirkman’s groundbreaking comic book series, The Walking Dead is an episodic adventure horror game series set during the same apocalyptic period witnessed by Sheriff Rick Grimes. Telling the story of a new group of survivors as they struggle to flee the horror of Atlanta and the surrounding communities consumed by the undead, The Walking Dead offers players the chance to experience the very first days of the apocalypse, meeting people and participating in events that intersect with the story seen in the comic books.

“Collaborating with Telltale on The Walking Dead continues to be a fantastic process. They understand the world and the characters that I created and what it takes to make a game out of them. What’s really exciting is that they’re telling a new story with new characters so you’ll get to see the same world Rick Grimes did, but now from a different point of view,” said Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead.
