South Park: 200 (4/14/10)

Here it is folks, the 200th episode of South Park. I’m actually kind of surprised that there have only been 200 episodes considering it’s going on it’s 14th season, but I guess they are short seasons so I shouldn’t be that surprised. This is the episode where every celebrity that the show has ever made fun of is back with a class action lawsuit against the town. The synopsis as well as a list of most of the celebrities set to appear are listed below.

200

This week we saw the 200th episode of South Park and I’ll be honest… I really liked it. Even though it was basically just their way of doing a clips show without actually doing a clips show, it was still new and fresh. Basically the boys are on a field trip at the fudge factory when they see Tom Cruise working as a Fudge Packer. Of course when they call him a Fudge Packer, he flips out and accuses them of making fun of him and decides to sue the town. He gathers up all of his celebrity friends, all of the ones we have seen on the show before, and they all file suit against the town of South Park, but Cruise as other motives. He tells the town that he will drop the lawsuit if they give him Mohammad, and as we all know there was a huge uproar with the Muslim community a few years ago when the prophet Mohammad was going to be shown on TV. So knowing that the town may get bombed if they show Mohammad at all, the town comes up with other ways to portray him, basically instead of showing a fake cartoon character of what Matt and Trey decide Mohammad would look like, they essentially ridicule him more by portraying him as a u-haul truck and a giant stuffed bear (mascot costume).

So while Tom Cruise is meeting with his celebrity friends, Jennifer Lopez shows up… yep, on Cartman’s hand. And it turns out that it’s not Jennifer Lopez at all, but Mitch Connor and he’s trying, along with Tom Cruise and the rest of the celebrities, to steal Mohammad’s Goo, which he uses to make it so he cannot be made fun of by anyone. When Cartman finds this out he’s pretty pissed because he thought that Jennifer Lopez was trying to get some sweet lawsuit money, not some dude’s Goo. So between all the bickering, Mitch breaks it to Cartman that the town lied to him about who his father really is, which leads Cartman on a little side plot to find out who his father is by interrogating Mr. Hat.

And of course, back to the Mohammad storyline, there is an extremist group that claims they will set off bombs all around South Park if the town gives Mohammad to the celebrities instead of them. It turns out these people are the gingers, they want the Goo as well. So seeing as how the town may not give the celebrities Mohammad anymore, they decide to resurrect mecha-streisand, but of course she’s new and improved… and she’s pissed. And it was at this part that I’m pretty sure Rob Reiner yelled out “Release the Kiken” or “Release the Kyken” (not really sure how to spell Kike, and yes I mean the derogatory term for jews)… did I hear this right? I mean, I’m not Jewish so I’m not really offended, I just want to make sure I heard that right.

And just after that is where my DVR decided to cut off… [Cartman voice] Laaaaaaaaaame.

So did they announce who Cartman’s real father is? Did it say “To Be Continued”, what did I miss at the end? I’ll catch it on southparkstudios.com later today, but I’m dying to know.

Overall I thought it was a great 200th episode, a cool way to do a clip show without doing a clip show. Still not as good as Randy hopping around on his balls, but I think that episode will go down as one of the classics.
