LOST: Season 6 – Recon (3/16/10)

Looks like tonight’s episode of LOST may be about Sawyer. The plot synopsis is below and I’ll be back tomorrow with easter eggs, theories and whatever else I can find.

Recon

The Locke Monster sends Sawyer on a mission.

Alright, quick recap time (and it will be quick because I don’t really have a whole lot to say about last night’s episode). The main thing that we saw this week was that Sawyer chose to be a cop instead of a con man in the Alternate Reality, so it’s like without being touched by Jacob they all have free will to make decisions on their own, where as when they were touched by Jacob he pretty much set their paths for them and thus their decisions, as free as they may have seemed at the time, were already made for them in order to get them to the island. There are still some tendencies in the AR that we have seen in the normal timeline like the fact that Sawyer is still trying to track down the con man that lead to his parents murder/suicide so it seems as though some things don’t change. And then in the island reality we saw Sawyer working his con man magic and playing both sides of the field by trying to strike deals with both Smocke (Smoke Monster Locke) and Widmore to get off the island, but in the end he just wants to get them to fight each other so he can steal the sub and get off on his own.

There was a little interaction between Kate, Claire and Smocke. Claire tries to kill Kate because she took Aaron from her, but that’s not the best part of that scene, the best part is the fact that Sayid is clearly not himself as he just sat there without even flinching when Claire attacked Kate. So I don’t think Claire is necessarily “infected” as they put it, but rather did just go crazy after being out in the woods for 3 years where as Sayid is definitely “infected” and is starting to change somehow.

So along with that, Widmore and his people have made it back onto the Hydra island (across from the main island) and are starting to set up shop. They are erecting pylons which presumably are similar to the pylons that surrounded the dharma town and protected them from the smoke monster. It’s also unclear as to whether or not Widmore and his people are the ones that killed all of the remaining passengers on the Ajira flight that Sawyer found dead in a pile. The woman that Sawyer chases and catches claims that their people did not kill them and I kind of believe her. My only reasoning is that the bodies already stunk like crazy and the flies were abundant near them, meaning they had to have been dead for at least a few days/weeks (I can’t remember the timeline and how long it’s been since the plane crashed there and the Losties returned to the island). So if Widmore’s people only just recently arrived on the island it would make sense that they didn’t kill them, but again I’m not sure how many days have past since things have happened.

So that’s pretty much all I have, but I will leave you with 2 last things. Widmore’s sub had a mysterious locked door in it that Sawyer made a point to point out, so it has to be something purposeful… but what? I’m going to say that I think it’s Desmond and he has a lot more to do with this whole thing than anyone thinks up until this point. And the last thing is a quick Easter Egg, in the AR there is a guy at the Police station asking about his brother being arrested on a drug charge, it’s a very quick exchange between him and Sawyer and I didn’t pick it up at first, but it’s Charlie’s brother. So that’s that, I’m sure there’s something I missed so please feel free to let us know in the comments.
