America’s Best Dance Crew Season 6: Week 2 – Ke$ha

americas best dance crew season 6 week 2 ke$ha

Week 2 of America’s Best Dance Crew Season 6 brought us the obnoxious sounds of Ke$ha along with 5 new groups and one more elimination. The show started out with a really cool group performance like last week. I actually liked the group performance more this week than I did last week which had me excited for the actual performances. The groups this week seemed more diverse than the previous week. This week we had pole dancers, b-boys, insane footwork and of course the little kids. It seemed like a diverse group so I was hoping to see a lot of new and cool things… I guess I oversold some of the groups because it was pretty underwhelming to be honest. So with that said, let’s get into the group performances.

First up was FootworKINGz. I didn’t want to be biased towards these guys because they are from my hometown of Chicago, but they were probably my favorite of the night. They just had so much energy it was just fun to watch. I seriously felt tired after they were done performing. I don’t know how anyone can move their feet as fast and as in-sync as these guys (and girl) can. There weren’t a whole lot of stunts in the performance, but that didn’t matter to me, they were clean, tight and most important of all, entertaining to watch. I think these guys will do well in the competition of they can keep up this level of intensity.

Not going to lie, I can’t really remember the exact order the rest of the crews performed in so let’s just talk about ICONic Boyz. This group of young kids really impressed me with their performance. I really expected this group to be kind of a gimmick because of their age, but these kids can dance. I will say that none of the moves seemed too difficult, but they were clean and on point. I really hope they don’t just rely on the fact that they are young and cute to take them through the competition thought. They are going to need to step it up a bit if they want to hold their own against some of the more experienced crews. I think they will last a few more rounds, but I don’t see them going to the finals.

Next up 787 Crew. Honestly, these last 3 groups, including 787, were just boring to me. I don’t know if it was because I was expecting the intensity that FootworKINGz brought or what, but I found most of the performances from here on out to be boring. 787 was down a member so I give them credit for reworking their routine a bit to make up for the missing guy, but I didn’t feel that their moves were very difficult and their performance was that good. I do think they have some potential so I hope we get to see more of what they can offer next week, but just based on last night’s performance I would not be voting for these guys to make it more than a couple more weeks.

Jag6ed… I wanted to like them, I mean come on it’s pole dancing… and I’m a guy. Needless to say my nipples did not get hard from this performance. The poles seem to take away from any sort of choreography that they do, which wasn’t much at all. The performance was slow and boring and I know the pole tricks are difficult, but they didn’t look difficult. This was probably the most boring performance on this show in all 6 seasons and if this wasn’t the group that got eliminated I was going to be pissed, but thankfully the judges saw it the same as me (and probably all of America) and gave them the boot. I understand that they want to have diversity in the groups, but I don’t think they were a good fit for the show.

And lastly, Instant Noodles… the Asian B-boy group. In the past this has been the group to look out for, but if last night’s performance is any indication of how these guys are going to be, I was not impressed. I was expecting some more stunts and better choreography, but I just plain didn’t like it. It was slow and boring to me when I was expecting fast and interesting. These guys were also down a member who will be returning next week, but even with another guy added I don’t know what to expect. I hope they can change my mind and bring something next week that we haven’t seen before. There have been a lot of B-boy groups on the show so you’ve got to be really good to catch my attention.

So… what did you guys think? How did this week’s groups compare to last week’s? Did the judges get it right in eliminating Jag6ed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
