This week on America’s Best Dance crew we got to see a little Bollywood flavor added into the mix. Each group was given a different style of Bollywood dance that they had to incorporate into their routines. There were some good performances this week and there were some not so good performances, but only a couple really stood out as being amazing to me, so let’s get into it.
The first group saved this week was Massive Monkees. This isn’t really a surprise to me even though their performance last week was actually pretty weak, but they have the charisma and the style that people who watch this show are looking for so they could probably dance like complete shit one week and still make it through. Having said that they were incredible this week, they really stepped it up after the judges comments last week and hit their mark perfectly. The routine was clean, they made sure they completed the challenge and their stunts were amazing. Overall this was one of the best performances of the night, they came back strong after a slight stumble last week. Still predicting these guys will make the top 3, but with their inconsistencies over the first 4 weeks I don’t feel that they can win the whole thing at this point.
Vogue Evolution was the next group to be saved and I’m actually quite surprised about this. If you’ve been reading my posts since the beginning of the season you know that I haven’t really been a “fan” of this group, but a couple of their performances did surprise me. They are not bad dancers and apparently they have quite a following based on what they’ve said during the little “behind the scenes” looks, so I’m not entirely surprised that they are still around, but it just makes me feel like it’s not really about the dancing anymore, it’s about who has the biggest following. The groups could dance like shit, but if people like you in general you’ll advance. Anyways, this weeks performances was just ok to me. Their moves seemed a little amateurish and the challenge move didn’t seem as challenging as some of the other groups. I’m very surprised that between them and We Are Heroes, this group did not make the bottom 2. Just goes to show that everything can change after the 1st week.
Rhythm City was the next group to be saved and had by far the best performance of the night. I have no idea how or why these guys were in the bottom 2 last week, but they absolutely killed it this week and none of the other groups could touch them. All of their moves were extremely clean and they nailed the challenge. They have the stunts, they have the dance moves, they have the talent… these guys are still my pick for the winners of season 4, and after this week there is no doubt in my mind that they will win the whole thing.
AfroBorike was up next after beating out “Beat Ya Feet Kings” for the last spot in the bottom 2. The performance wasn’t terrible, but nothing special. Their move was to do some sort of fast feet motion with a few little kicks and they absolutely botched it. Their kicks were all out of sync and didn’t look good at all. Overall it wasn’t the worst performance of the night, but I will be very surprised if this doesn’t land them in the bottom 2 next week. They just don’t seem to have the talent and skill to beat out the other groups still left in the competition.
So that leaves us with the bottom 2, first up We Are Heroes. While I didn’t really care for the performance last week I still can’t believe that they were in the bottom 2 this week compared to some of the other groups still in the competition, but lately I feel like they’ve been slipping a bit. I really hate to say this, but I didn’t really like their performance this week either. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but I just feel like the first 2 weeks they raised the bar so high that they haven’t been able to reach that level again. I still see a top 3 finish for these guys, but I’m going to have to flip-flop and say that after the last 2 weeks I don’t think they have what it takes to win the whole thing.
Last but not least we have Beat Ya Feet Kings and this shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone. Actually I take that back, it was a surprise because there’s no reason that they should have still been in the competition this week over Southern Movement. Their performance this week was boring and I’m glad they were finally sent packing (3 weeks late). They don’t compare to any of the groups that are still in the competition at this point and definitely couldn’t out-dance Southern Movement.
So we’re down to the top 5 and a few of the crews still in the competition are definitely a surprise to me based on my first week predictions, but as I keep saying one week can change everything. As for my predictions for the bottom 2 next week, I think we’re going to see AfroBorike for sure, and then it’s a little hard to tell who will be the other crew. I want to say it will be Vogue Evolution only because I don’t think they compare to the other groups, but they have quite the following and people seem to like them so maybe we’ll see We Are Heroes in the bottom 2 again, who knows. I think Rhythm City and Massive Monkees are the only 2 groups that are 100% safe from elimination next week as they had the 2 best performances of the week.
What did you think of the performances this week? Were you happy to see Beat Ya Feet Kings leave? Who do you think will be in the bottom 2 next week? Let us know in the comments.
