Eminem is releasing his 8th solo studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, on November 5, 2013 and now we finally have a glimpse at the cover art. It bares a striking resemblance to the cover of “The Marshall Mathers LP”, which was released in back in 2000. although the house is a bit more run down now.
I’m digging the first single “Berzerk”, which has sort of a Beastie Boys feel to it. The song definitely takes it back to the early era of hip-hop with Rick Rubin at the helm, I just hope the rest of the album isn’t like this. I appreciate the nostalgia, and I like the fact that he’s being different, but The Marshall Mathers LP was such a dark album, aside from it’s lead single, that it would be hard to call this a sequel album if it didn’t follow that same motif. I guess we’ll see what happens on November 5th when The Marshall Mathers LP 2 actually hits stores, but for now enjoy the cover art.
Here’s a comparison of The Marshall Mathers LP and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 cover art:
