Looks like Hollywood is finally out of ideas… oh wait, they’ve been out of ideas for years now so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is getting a “reboot?” I’m not sure what to call this one… It doesn’t seem to make reference, in terms of clips, to the 2003 or 2006 reboots of the franchise so I’m guessing this is a new, standalone flick. The story seems slightly different too. A woman takes her friends as she goes to collect a house she inherits from her grandmother, only to find that a chainsaw wielding maniac still lives there? Seems a bit odd to me. Maybe I’ve got that a little wrong, maybe leatherface doesn’t live in the house still, but either way it’s not like the original (or the 2003) version where it’s just a crazy family that the group happens to run into on their way to a totally different destination… this time the house IS the destination.

I don’t know, I’m not too excited about this one. I definitely won’t be seeing it in the theater, but as with most horror movies, I’ll give it a shot once it hits Blu-Ray in a few months. Maybe I’m the only one, but is anyone really excited for this? I actually really enjoyed Marcus Nispel’s 2003 reboot of the series… I guess we’ll see how this one pans on out January 3, 2013
