If you’re a fan of Oren Peli like I am then you’re probably at least a little bit excited for “Chernobyl Diaries”. I’m excited because Peli is shying away from the POV/found footage camera made a name for him in “Paranormal Activity” and “The River”. This is shot like a normal flick, but still has that aspect of horror to it… and it looks pretty cool. I’m a sucker for these types of horror movies so I just hope that it lives up to my expectations. And yes I know the film is only produced by Peli and not directed by him…

The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour” guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone…
